Myths On Skin Care Products: Exposed

Myths On Skin Care Products: Exposed

People are looking for professional skin care products for their skin concerns especially those which are related to aging. The most common mistakes in choosing professional skin care products for different skin care needs revolve around major misconceptions. Not many people know, and maybe even you are not aware, that there are several myths about skin care that can cause you to purchase products that you don’t really need or worse that can bring more problems to you than what you are already experiencing. Here are the five most commonly unrecognized skin care myths you need to understand as soon as possible:

Myth 1: Cosmeceutical companies produce better products than cosmetic companies The word “cosmeceutical” easily translates to cosmetics and pharmaceutical. With this most people think that professional skin care products for sale from companies that brand themselves as “cosmeceutical” are better than ordinary cosmetics because they tend sound more scientific. But the truth is, the simpler the ingredients put in professional skin care products for remedies or treatments are the better.

Myth 2: It says “natural”, it must be good! People can put anything in a container and say it’s natural. There are no regulations when it comes to the use of the word “natural” even in skin care products. Aside from looking at the label to determine whether the product is indeed made of natural ingredients, remember that there are several natural materials that can be irritating to the skin. On the other hand, there are also as much synthetic ingredients that work best.

Myth 3: It says “Dermatologist tested”, it must work! This is another marketing slogan you should not base your purchases on. It only takes one dermatologist to test the product on a patient who is happy with the result to say that the product is “Dermatologist tested” or “Dermatologist Approved”.

Myth 4: Hypoallergenic products are safe to use against irritations. Like the term “natural”, anything can be claimed hypoallergenic. People have various skin conditions. It doesn’t mean that when one person uses a product and doesn’t get irritations from it that your skin will like it too. It is best to check the labels, and if you get a break out from using it once, then don’t use it again.

Myth 5: Mineral oil is horrible. Those who produce “natural” professional skin care products for various skin types say that mineral oil is dangerous to your skin because it is made of crude oil which suffocates the skin by forming an oil film. This is maddening because cosmetics-grade mineral oil and petrolatum are considered the safest, most nonirritating moisturizing ingredients ever found. Other than that, petrolatum and mineral oil are known for being efficacious in wound healing, and are also considered to be among the most effective moisturizing ingredients available.

Prevent Aging, Tips on Anti-Aging

Beauty

Anti-AgingWomen spend millions of dollars on cosmetic surgery such as botox and beauty products to prevent aging. But how many of them actually realise that eating the right foods, sweating out on the treadmill and having sufficient sleep may actually fight aging. A new study in the journal Circulation, shows that vigorous exercise not only helps to fight off colds and flu and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancers, it also slows down the process of aging.

Exercise Regularly

"People who exercise have better health and live longer, however the mechanisms are not completely understood," said Dr. Ulrich Laufs, lead author of the new study and researcher at the University of Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany "You'd be amazed at how little we know about the mechanism of exercise on the cellular level." In his study of 104 people, he discovered that 50 year old adults who exercised vigorously over a lifetime looked biologically younger that inactive people.

My friend, Karen who has recently joined a gym is another vivid example of someone who has reaped the benefits of regular exercise. Karen, an avid food lover used to dislike exercise. She loved indulging in good food and would join her friends and colleagues for buffets every week. After she hit her 30s, her metabolic rate declined and she started to put on weight. Initially, she was not concerned about her weight gain. However, about three months ago, she discovered that she has put on 10kg. Karen’s family members and friends commented on her weight gain and this has made Karen upset. Therefore, she was determined to lose weight. She signed up with a gym near her house and has been going for Kickboxing, Pilates and Yoga lessons about three times a week. She also swims twice a week.  After three months of intensive exercise, Karen has become fit and trim. She also noticed that her skin is more glowing and less prone to breakouts.

Here are some tips for women who are keen to start on an exercise regime.
  • Wear proper exercise attire. A sports bra is a MUST.
  • Do not exercise too intensively if you are just starting out. Start off with simple exercises such as brisk walking.
  • Jog or brisk walk for at least 30 minutes five times a week.
  • Do not exercise immediately after a meal. Only do it two hours later. It is best to exercise on an empty stomach. However, you are hungry, you can have a healthy fruit bar.
  • Do your warms up before exercise. After a workout, make sure that you do cool down stretching exercises.
  • Exercises such as Yoga and Pilates are good as they help you to maintain a better posture and they are also less harmful to your joints.
