i was prescribed differin when i had acne... it didnt work for me..

however! i noticed that my skin became glowy due to the mild peeling effects

podders, do share your experience! i believe this cant be bought off the shelves?

been using differin for few years now after i switched from retin-A (been using retin-A since i was 15-16?) differin i feel is a much milder version of retin-A, doesnt give that "wow" radiant glow factor on your skin but less peeling compared to retin-A, differin helps keep my skin matte and zit-free for as long as im using it! skin remains shine-free and clear for a long time, pretty good! and yes! differin can only be bought with a doctor's prescription, either at clinics, polyclinics, hospitals or watsons/guardian pharmacies (with prescription)

The difference between Retin A and Differin is that Retin A also rejuvenates the skin besides treating acne. Differin only treats acne. So for more mature skin, with some lines and wrinkles, Retin A would be a better choice.

But if you are young and have acne prone skin, Differin is okay cos young skin normally dun need much rejuvenation yet.

ooh. i dont have acne anymore...

but i'm toying with the idea of using Differin to make my face have the healthy "glow"

oh if you dont have acne, best not to use it longterm, it made my skin sensitive and flaky (ive oily skin) once your skin clears up, just maintain with skincare, dont depend on it for life

oh ya... i heard that differin makes our skin thinner... thats why it will become sensitive... true?

I have used both retin-a and differin. Intially differin works well for me, but it sort of lose its effectiveness like 9mths later. Retin-a suits be better thou.

i use differin on and off...like only when i get zits.
its pretty good.
the best zit cream i can find. benzoyl peroxide doesnt work at all.

have been using differin for a year when i was seeing doctor that time...my face was flawless....glowy and smooth...but i get burnt easily in the sun (that time didn't know should apply sunblock)....tried again the next time when i saw doctor and it didn't work anymore.

i tried differin for a few months... NO effect at all.

but my friend uses it (not sure if she still does) and she swears by it. smoother skin... Somehow seems to depend on individuals...

ive been using this brand called cellnique (dunno whether its spelled correctly) but the pharmacist told me that it works the same as differin.

according to my skin specialist, differin is meant for white heads, not developed pimples. if you noe wat i mean. so if u dun have white heads u'll not see any changes. the change was quite apparent for me.

hmm, you can buy it at pharmacies... but you need a prescription.. or you can buy from yahoo auctions...

i had alot of white heads when i began with Differin. But sadly... no effect. Sniff...

you noe buying differin in malaysia doesn't require prescription.
i'm in PJ right now.. and i checked out a few pharmacies. and none of them asked for my prescription or any papers to prove that i should be using differin.

guess i changin back to differin den.

bangkok and msia doesnt require prescription to buy differin/retin-A products, can get as cheap as below 5bucks in bangkok! but well, sometimes it works the first round and when you go back to using differin/retin-A again after few years, results not as good

i apply differin all over the face. Nope i didn't experience breakout....my skin also cleared up slowly when using differin. I use differin everyday for twice a day, then slowly decrease to once a day.

if your skin is relatively clear then most doctors will only ask you to apply on pimple/blackhead prone areas like t-zone, nose, chin area but for those with acne conditions then whole face application is recommended, i apply everyday after cleansing, might be abit drying with prolonged usage so moisturising is essential

if it's instructed by your doctor, then just apply to t zone area only. My doctor told me to apply all over the face that time as I have acne outbreaks all over the face. I also have very oily skin for the whole face.

ok! do you guys still use moisturiser since the product can be drying? my skn feel itchy and dry after using retin a as well. i want to apply alittle moisturiser, dunno before or after differin and retin a.

the last time i was using it, i was advised not to use a moisturizer cuz i have very oily skin but when it became better, the doctor told me to use moisturizer. Apply moist after differin

i always thought that blackheads and whiteheads are the same.

they are somehow the same.. coz whitehead is the initial stage.. then become blackhead when the surface gets dirty.. and if not take care of properly.. it becomes pimple liaoz..

Been using differin for years and it never lets me down. I dun have acne or pimples but I mainly use it for my clogs.

When I first been prescribed to differin my GP said it will not form dependency or thinning of skin. He also said differin is a very good pdt and lots of ppl are using. He even share a tip : Apply a thin layer of differin first then follow by hydroquinone, it will effectively lighten spots and freckles.

Even though I have hydroquinone creme but havent try his method. I tried to only apply hydroquinone and the next day, that area will be very red and 'hurt' looking.

Usually I only apply on the clog spot not the entire face (although the doctor recommend I use for the whole face). One bottle will last for months but recently maybe due to use of wrong pdt, my face have more clogs than usual and now I will apply more.

I did recommend many friends to use it but there are some who find it doesnt work for them.

right now, my face has a lot of clogged pores, like little bumps all over my face after using differin and retin a. no pimples. i hope that the bumps will go away real soon, feel like i have chicken pox.

I got it from Paula Choice's, if not can get it from Guardian or Watson. Theres this brand name Fade Off, it contain hydroquinone. Its pack in a box usually display at the bottom shelf.

yup once i wore hydroquinone without sunblock and my marks darkened alot under the sun! so if youre using a hydroquinone product, sunblock is super important, same for all whitening products, itll reverse the effects if exposed to UV light, but good thing is hydroquinone lightens at lightning speed! 2weeks and 90% cleared

how often do you guys take to see the effects on average? at least 2 weeks? or even longer?

i took quite some time to see results with differin...think about 2 months like tat but i had very bad outbreaks that time

oic, do it purge out all the bad stuff first, so that means you will see a lot of bumps forming out?

i had alot of purging when i was using that and taking antibiotics but after the 3rd month, it stabilised down and start to get better.

i didnt experience any purging while on differin, it slowly cleared up within 1-2mths

the bumps are slowly going away but i still have alot of those oil clogged bumps, look so bad. don't know if it is from differin or retin a...i hope that my skin will be clear soon.

I tried both Differin and Retin-A.

I very much preferred Retin-A. I have stopped Retin-A for 1 year, guess what! lots of cystic acne on my face and red marks (Due to my itchy hand), quite sian.

Last week i went to my GP, he gave me Stieva-A and some anti-biotics, it is working well. Some cystics come to head (easy to pop) and red marks lighten abit liao.

Now down with 3 cystics one. To counter the side effect of Retin-A, i am using Avene's product + La-roche Posay Sunscreen, so far so good, no peeling or redness at all. Quite happy with the result.

I guess have to stick to Retin-A for the time being.

Differin can be apply for morning and night use or night use only? Thanks.

recommended night use only because sunlight plus differin increases skin sensitivity

i didn't know tat differin should be worn at night, my derm. didn't say that, only said to use retin a in the night. maybe i should not use differin in the day anymore.

yeah, if i'm not wrong, the box contains instructions mentioning that it should be used at night...

dont think its advisable to use in the day
